Patrick H.
All i had to do was call
By Patrick H., Billings  MT (I donated a 1990 Plymouth Laser)

All i had to do was call and leave the keys in my car. How easy is that?

Errin K.
It was great
By Errin K., Kalispell  MT (I donated a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina)

It was great. The only thing was that my title was hard to track down for your organization and the tow company did not know what organization the car was being picked up for.

Rob G.
Overall, my experience was very good
By Rob G., Park City  MT (I donated a 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera)

Overall my experience was very good, from having the autos picked up to receiving my receipt of donation. It's great to have an organization providing this kind of help and service.

How your car donation helps

Our charity programs are the essence of what we do. We are thankful to be able to give back to many local communities across North America and to bring educational opportunities to so many children, with the help of our sister charity Oorah. We're a registered nonprofit Jewish organization. Learn about what we do and see our charity programs here.

Kars4kids Mentor Program
The Kars4Kids Vision

Kars4Kids‘ vision is to give our children the ability to succeed in life. We focus on educational, mentorship and year-round programs for our children, their families and their communities, looking at the big picture of our children‘s development and the environment they grow up in. We rely on thousands of volunteers to help us change the world, one child at a time.

Creature Comforts

One of the things that seperates The Zone summer experience from other sleepaway camps is the on-grounds, full-scale menagerie. Kids benefit from cuddling bunnies and chicks, milking cows, riding horses and feeding baby goats from milk bottles. Many children will testify that the unconditional love they felt from their new found cuddly friends helped them during those tough days away from home.

Annual Coat Giveaway

The thought of parents not being able to bundle up their little ones in the frigid months because of the financial challenge is chilling. We do all we can by annually organizing winter coat giveaways. In recent years we have partnered up with a range of community leaders such as Senator Corey Booker and Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation ensuring outreach to those communities that are most in need.

Questions about donating a car in MT

We’ve got answers to all your questions about car donation in MT, whether you want to know more about the process or anything related to your car’s title.
The amount you can claim from the IRS as a tax deduction depends on the category applicable to you:
The IRS allows you to claim a tax deduction of:
a) The value of your vehicle up to $500. It is up to the donor to determine the fair market value.
b) The amount we sell your vehicle for - if it is more than $500.

Kars4kids is a classified 501(c)(3) charity organization. You can check with your tax advisor or accountant to determine the amount of your benefit. The deduction is of value only if the donor itemizes his or her deductions. For a more detailed overview the IRS publishes a Donors Guide to Car Donation.
Kars4Kids accepts donations of virtually all kinds of vehicles, including but not limited to: car, snow plow, boat, bus, jet ski, truck, airplane, van, trailer, motorcycle, ATV, tractor, commercial, fleet and RV (motor home) donations. Sorry, no kids.
Yes, we can usually pick up a vehicle without a title in Montana . We may need the registered owner to sign some paperwork for us.
In almost all scenarios Kars4kids will apply for the new title for you. We'll handle all the paperwork and pay the title fees too.
If you'd prefer you may apply for a new title on your own. Here's how:
Complete an Application for Duplicate Certificate of Title. You can submit the application at your local contract office, or mail the package to:
Title and Registration Bureau
Motor Vehicle Division
Montana Department of Justice
1003 Buckskin Drive
Deer Lodge, Montana 59722
Montana Title
You will need to sign and have the title notarized in the presence of a notary public. The sample title document to the left of this paragraph has a red arrow. Sign where the arrow appears using the name listed on the front page of your car title document. The signed title should be placed in the glove compartment at the time your vehicle is picked up.
  1. Remove plates
License plates stay with the owner and may be transferred to another vehicle only when the vehicle is properly registered through the county treasurer. If you will not be transferring the plates to another vehicle you should deface the plates.
  2. Stop insurance
Cancel your insurance coverage on the donated vehicle once it’s been picked up.
