Clean Air

 

Clean air is essential to human health and protecting our climate and planet. The World Health Organization (WHO) finds that air pollution annually causes some seven million deaths worldwide. Clean air means far fewer premature deaths and hospital visits for heart and respiratory illnesses. Reducing greenhouse gas levels may slow global warming. Two main causes of air pollution are energy production and use. The Clean Air Act of 1970, tasks the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with preserving public health by regulating emissions that pollute the air. Studies suggest the benefits of clean air exceed the cost of implementing regulations to reduce air pollution.
