How the Kars4Kids Small Grant Program Is Helping Youth-Focused Nonprofits Nationwide
From mentorship and literacy to STEM education, foster care support, grief services, and summer enrichment programs, the Kars4Kids Small Grant Program continues to invest in organizations helping children and families thrive.
What began as a small initiative to support grassroots nonprofits has grown into a nationwide effort with meaningful impact in communities across the United States.
“Small grants. Big impact. More than $410,000 awarded to youth-focused nonprofits nationwide.”
More Than $410,000 Awarded to Youth-Focused Nonprofits
Since its inception, the Kars4Kids Small Grant Program has awarded 400 grants totaling more than $410,000 to nonprofits serving children, teens, and families.
These grants help organizations:
- launch tutoring and literacy programs
- expand mentoring initiatives
- provide STEM and robotics education
- support foster youth
- offer grief and mental health services
- fund summer camps and enrichment programs
- create safe, supportive environments for children in need
While the grants themselves may be modest in size, their impact is often significant for community-based nonprofits working directly with youth and families.
Small grants. Real impact. More than $410,000 invested in youth-focused innovation, education, and compassion.
Growing Impact Year After Year
Over time, the Kars4Kids Small Grant Program has steadily expanded both its reach and its level of support.
Already in 2026, the Kars4Kids Small Grant Program has reached its largest year of giving to date, distributing more than $66,000 in grants to nonprofits across the country—and the year isn’t over yet.

Today, Kars4Kids awards qualifying organizations $5,000 grants to help support and expand their work serving children and youth.
As community needs evolve, we remain committed to supporting programs that help children learn, grow, heal, and succeed.
Supporting Communities Across the Country
Kars4Kids Small Grants have reached nonprofits in dozens of states nationwide.
California nonprofits have received more Kars4Kids Small Grants than organizations in any other state.

Other leading grant-receiving states include New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Illinois, New Jersey, Georgia, Virginia, Colorado, and Maryland.
These organizations reflect the diversity of communities and challenges facing children and families today.
What Our Grantees Do
Many grant recipients share their stories through interviews on the Kars4Kids Small Grants blog, offering a closer look at the work being done in communities across the country.
The nonprofits we support focus on a wide range of needs and opportunities, including:
- community service
- STEM learning
- mentorship
- college readiness
- career preparation
- reading and literacy
- summer camp access
- foster youth programs
- leadership development
- homework help
Our grantees also include organizations supporting children and families facing illness, grief, and other difficult life challenges.

Some programs help struggling students build confidence in the classroom. Others provide emotional support during times of crisis, introduce children to coding and robotics, or create safe spaces where young people can connect, learn, and grow.
These focus areas reflect the real-world needs our nonprofit partners are meeting every day.
Looking Ahead
Whether it’s a startup nonprofit supporting grieving children and their families or a long-established organization preparing teens for college and careers, we’re proud to support people doing meaningful work for young people.
The Kars4Kids Small Grant Program exists to help community organizations continue making a difference where it matters most: in the lives of children.
And we’re just getting started.
