Official Contest Rules

HOW TO ENTER:
To enter, visit www.kars4kids.org/contest and follow the instructions to upload your video to YouTube. Each video that is submitted must meet the following Video Requirements:

  • Contestants must reside in the United States (void in Pennsylvania and Oregon). Offer void where prohibited by law.
  • Minimum age for contest entry is 18 years of age, however parents may enter videos on behalf of their children.
  • Video submissions must be between 30 and 90 seconds long and must be received no later than midnight on February 1, 2010 to be eligible.
  • Videos must be the original work of the entrant and must NOT include mention or performance of any copyrighted media production including but not limited to music, films, books, television programming, etc., or identifying descriptions of any media property, unless the entrant has express written permission (which must be presented to Kars4kids upon request) to use the property in question or the property in question is in the public domain.
  • Videos must NOT have been previously submitted to another contest, broadcast on a media network or submitted to any entertainment entity that would conflict with this contest, as determined in the contest entities' sole discretion.
  • If individuals other than the entrant appear in a video, entrant must have the permission to use the audio and visuals of everyone featured in the video in any and all media without compensation. 
  • An entry can only be submitted by a single individual, and a prize will only be awarded in the entrant's name.  In the event of a dispute as to the identity of a winner, the winner will be deemed to be the person in whose name the video was submitted. Entrants must provide all information requested to be eligible to win.
  • There is no limit to the number of entries per person, but each entry submitted must be different, and there is a limit of one (1) prize per person.
  • Incomplete, illegible or corrupted entries will be disqualified. Kars4Kids is not responsible for lost, late, damaged, incomplete or misdirected entries.
  • Videos must not contain or transmit any materials that contain software viruses or other computer code, files or programs designed to impair, limit, interfere with or cause harm to any communications network operated by any of the contest entities or the computers of any individual or entity participating in or otherwise associated with the contest.
  • All video submissions shall become the property of Kars4Kids upon receipt of the contest entry. Kars4Kids shall reserve the rights to use submission entries in future promotions or in any other way the organization deems fit.
  • Entries must be dignified, modest and in good taste; must not be obscene or indecent, including but not limited to containing pornography or profanity, nor contain any offensive or defamatory statements including but not limited to words or symbols that might be considered offensive to individuals of any race, ethnicity, religion or socioeconomic group, nor include threats to any person, place, business, or group, nor invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity, including, without limitation, any third party trademarks or copyrights, nor portray Sponsor or Sponsor's brands or products in any way that might tend to subject any of them to public contempt, scandal, disrepute or ridicule. Sponsor reserves the right to make determinations of suitability in its sole and absolute discretion, and to disqualify any entries it determines to be inappropriate for any of the reasons listed above, or for any other reason.
  • Video submissions must also comply with the YouTube’s “YouTube Community Guidelines” set forth at http://www.youtube.com/t/community_guidelines (“Code of Conduct”) and must not:
  • Include trademarks, logos, or copyrighted material not owned by entrant or used without permission (such as company names, music, photographs, works of art, or images published on or in websites, television, movies, or other media);
  • Use individuals’ names, in whole or in part (including the entrant’s last name) without permission;
  • Refer to public figures;
  • Contain profanity, pornographic, or sexual content, content promoting alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms, or weapons, hateful content of any kind (including racism, sexism, etc.), content that promotes violence or harm to another living creature, or any other offensive, obscene, or inappropriate content;
  • Defame, misrepresent, or contain disparaging remarks about other people or companies, including, but not limited to Sponsor;
  • Promote a political agenda regardless of the political affiliation;
  • Contain materials embodying the names, likenesses, photographs, or other identifying elements of any person, living, or dead without permission.
  • Are not subject to any third party agreements, and that the Sponsors will not be required to pay or incur any sums to any person or entity as a result of their use, exhibition or exploitation of the idea or video or elements therein;
  • Any required permits from local authorities and other permissions have been obtained.

 

Winner Selection/Notification

  • Finalist's videos will be selected from among all eligible videos received. The judging of videos will be conducted under the supervision of Sponsor whose decisions are final and binding in all respects relating to winner selection.
  • On or before February 2, 2010, Kars4Kids will select fifteen (15) potential finalists or semi-finalists.
  • Each of the fifteen (15) semi- finalists will be notified via email.  The semi-finalists' videos will be featured on the website for the judging phase.
  • If Kars4Kids does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified entries, we reserve the right to post fewer than fifteen (15) semi-finalist videos.
  • Semi-finalists will have the opportunity to win prizes based on votes for their video submissions.
  • Each day during the public voting period, people may vote only once. Subsequent votes in excess of stated maximum voting by a single person will be disqualified.
  • On or before February 25, 2010, Kars4Kids will announce prize winners. Prize awards will be based on votes. All rulings shall be final and are not subject to explanation.
  • Winners will be notified via email. Winners will need to confirm that they are the owner and submitter of the video before receiving their prize.
  • Retail value of prizes: Prizes are valued at more than $150 and less than $2000 each. Prizes shall be awarded as is and cannot be exchanged with sponsor for cash values.
  • Prize pictures are for illustration purposes only. 

Kars4kids reserves the right to make changes to these terms and conditions at any time.
