Jay was a real estate developer based in Connecticut. When\nhe was first starting out in the business, he purchased a commercial property\nin New York with an eye toward developing the piece of real estate. But as\noften happens, things don\u2019t always go the way we plan. The years went by, and\nJay found himself tied up with other projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The high holding costs of the property\u2014over 10% of its value\u2014began to feel like a heavy burden, turning an asset into a liability. Jay decided to donate the property to Kars4Kids<\/a>. It seemed the smart thing to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commercial properties donation was the right choice for Jay<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

And it was smart. Jay got a tax deduction for the appraised\nvalue of the property. But more than that, he\u2019d freed up his time and assets to\npursue more lucrative endeavors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes, with real estate, you have to cut your losses.\nThat\u2019s what happened with Jay, and the property he purchased when he was young\nand inexperienced. It was a life lesson.
