But when he realized he\u2019d actually reached Kars4Kids, it felt like more than just a coincidence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was overjoyed,\u201d Dave said. \u201cIt felt like things were falling into place. I was more than happy to give back to an organization that gave me so much growing up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That organization was more familiar than he expected. As a teen, Dave had participated in <strong>ChillZone<\/strong>, the popular Saturday night learning and activity program, and later spent a summer as a camper at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thezone.org\/\"><strong>TheZone<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Memories That Stuck<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4915\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4915\" style=\"width: 863px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4915 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kars4kids.org\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/2014-Dave-Roubeni.jpg\" alt=\"Boy at TheZone 2014 ATV riding Dave Roubeni\" width=\"863\" height=\"1166\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4915\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A real glimpse into TheZone, summer 2014\u2014when Dave was a camper.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe camp was beautiful and well cared for,\u201d Dave recalled. \u201cI had a great time \u2014 there were so many activities, and the people there really looked after us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The experience stayed with him. Years later, while studying in Israel, Dave attended a program similar to ChillZone, also run by Kars4Kids partners. \u201cThey gave out food and made it fun. I went to a lot of those and enjoyed them a lot,\u201d he said. \u201cIt had a big impact on me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So when the opportunity came to give back, he didn\u2019t hesitate. He donated a <strong>2018 Mercedes Metris minivan<\/strong>, a vehicle that had served his large family well.<\/p>\n<h2>A Minivan Full of Memories<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cI come from a big family \u2014 twelve siblings \u2014 so a car that could fit everyone was important,\u201d Dave shared. \u201cWe used it to spend time together, to stay connected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The donation process, he said, was seamless. \u201cEverything was so smooth. They coordinated the pickup perfectly, and it all went quickly and easily.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now working full-time, Dave remains active in his Long Island community and values time with friends, healthy living, and giving back where he can.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe used the minivan to spend time together, to stay connected. Now it\u2019s helping someone else.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n\u2014 Dave Roubeni<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Paying It Forward<\/h2>\n<p>Dave\u2019s advice to kids currently involved in Kars4Kids-sponsored programs? \u201cEnjoy every moment.
