Also, they\u2019ll usually help you with any paperwork you need and will take care of selling your car for you. You won\u2019t have to deal with buyers, permits, towing, or anything else that comes with selling a car.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Tax Deductions and Other Benefits.<\/strong> If the charity you choose is a registered 501(c)(3), you can claim the fair market value for up to a maximum of $500 if they sell your car for under $500.\u00a0 If the car sells for more than $500, you can claim the full sale price for your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kars4kids.org\/tax-deduction.php\">tax deduction<\/a>. Also, some charities offer other incentives.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Closure.<\/strong> Once your car is taken away, you\u2019ll no longer have to deal with it sitting in your driveway. You\u2019ll also be free of maintenance costs, insurance payments on the car, etc.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Benefaction.<\/strong> You\u2019ll be contributing to a cause that you care about and whose work you support.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Condition Doesn\u2019t Matter.<\/strong> Your car doesn\u2019t have to be running for most charities to take it.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a92b423 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a92b423\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Cons of Donating Your Car\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-16b0b25 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"16b0b25\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>Although this doesn\u2019t happen very frequently, some people have been audited as the non-cash notation raised suspicion for the IRS.<\/li><li>Some charities aren\u2019t legit, and some of them are actually scams (check to make sure the organization is a valid and registered 501(c)(3), like ours). Some are valid, but might be inexperienced, or don\u2019t offer good customer service, which may make the process difficult for you. In contrast, Kars4Kids\u2019 success has been built on a proven track record, both in its car donation practices and its charitable work.<br \/>Donating sure gives you cash, but it doesn\u2019t give you instant cash. You do have to wait for tax day to see dividends.<\/li><li>You may not get as big a deduction as you think, so make sure you know what to expect. If your car sells for more than $500, Kars4Kids will send you a tax receipt for the total sale price. Otherwise you can claim the fair market value of the car, up to $500.<\/li><li>You\u2019ll also need to itemize your deductions if you want them to be worth anything on your taxes.<\/li><li>If your car has a lien on it, you likely won\u2019t be able to donate it.<\/li><li>You may be missing the necessary documents required to donate.
