Summer camps have a positive impact on a child and creates memories that last a lifetime. That is why Kars4kids affords this opportunity to hundreds of kids each year. Whether providing scholarships at various summer camps, in addition to sponsoring two big, beautiful campuses in pristine country surroundings. City kids experience nature first-hand. Our facilities are second to none and our camper-to-staff ratio is an unbelievable two-to-one. Generous scholarships are offered to families that cannot afford the fee.

We've designed our camps to be a child's paradise. Each is stocked with exotic animals like peacocks and llamas. There are horses for the children to tend and ride, fabulous indoor and outdoor swimming pools, air-conditioned living quarters and dining halls, brand new renovated buildings, state-of-the-art sports facilities and non-stop programming.

That's what brings them to camp. But what brings them back again and again is the spirit of family, the ample one-on-one attention our counselors/mentors lavish on them, the warm, traditional Sabbath meals they enjoy, replete with singing and dancing, and of course, the close, lasting bonds they create with their fellow campers.

Our campers and counselors are in frequent contact with each other throughout the school year. Many get together for a pizza night or even for homework help. On holidays, camp reconvenes for a few days to enjoy the celebration together, this time with parents and siblings in tow. When you help Kars4Kids give children a summer at our beautiful, one-of-a-kind camps, you are literally buying those children a ticket to a happier, healthier, more wholesome life.

Mentoring is the heart and soul of all our programs, and the underlying mission of all our volunteers and employees. Whether someone is the cook at camp or the director of school placement, his mission is to take a personal interest in the success of each individual child.

Our mentors keep in close contact with our children. They get to know their parents and siblings, and often become valued friends of the family. If a mentor encounters a situation with which he needs assistance, our experienced educational and outreach directors are available 24 hours a day for consultation.

Every child benefits from a responsible, warm older friend on whom he can rely. We provide this precious asset for each of our children, and it is the key to their success.

Kids need fun! The question has always been, what kind of fun? We make sure that it's exciting and action-packed while being safe and wholesome as well.

Several times a year, we organize outings for our campers and students, along with counselors/mentors, to fabulous destinations including trips to amusement parks, weekend retreats and holiday getaways. Our kids look forward to seeing their friends and spending a great day together, strengthening bonds and building memories that last a life-time.

Kids who are adrift during the after-school hours, or who come home to an empty house, are far more likely to become involved in risky activities. On the other hand, those same unstructured hours can provide the perfect opportunity to sharpen skills, explore talents, expand their social network and experience success. Kars4Kids funds several programs to ensure that our children have the opportunity to use "spare time" in the best ways possible.

• Homework Help: Volunteer tutors meet with children to review their school work and keep them up to speed. But it's not all work – there are refreshments, prizes and a sense of camaraderie that make this weekly ritual one kids really look forward to.
• Father and Son Night: Saturday nights are Father and Son night for hundreds of kids, and a perfect way to keep fathers involved in their children's education – an important predictor of success. Gathering at their local centers, fathers and sons enjoy one-on-one review of the children's studies, and sometimes choose a subject for just the two of them to explore together. Volunteers are on hand to partner with boys whose fathers can't attend. Pizza, prizes and the fun of a late-night get-together keep fathers and sons coming back week after week.
• Skill Building: A child who finds school confusing can become overwhelmed and give up. But sometimes, it just takes a little reinforcement of study skills, organizational skills and basic academic skills to make a difference. Our after-school programs give children the reinforcement they need, using the most effective teaching tools ever invented – warm, personal concern and positive reinforcement.

Kars4kids is training and inspiring a legion of dedicated teen volunteers who are the power supply for all of our programs. With our experienced backup and support, these volunteers are honing their leadership and team-building skills as they develop into tomorrow's leaders.
